The Standing Joint Committee on Official Languages met in a televised session at 3:32 p.m., this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Co-Chair, Mauril Bélanger, presiding.
Members of the Committee present:
From the Senate : The Honourables Gérald A. Beaudoin and Jean-Robert Gauthier.
From the House of Commons :
Mauril Bélanger, Gérard Binet, Yvon Godin, John Herron, Bernard Patry, Benoît Sauvageau and Yolande Thibeault.
Acting Member present: Roy Bailey for Scott Reid.
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Françoise Coulombe and Marion Ménard, Analysts.
Witnesses: From the « Club de hockey Canadien »: Pierre Boivin, President « du Club de hockey Canadien ». From the National Hockey League: Jon Litner, Executive Vice-President, Chief Operating Officer. From the CBC/Radio-Canada: Michèle Fortin, Executive Vice-President of the French Television; Michel Tremblay, Vice-President, Strategy and Business Development; Daniel Gourd, General Manager, French Television.
In accordance with Standing Order 108(4)b), the Committee resumed its study on Part VII of the Official Languages Act.
Jon Litner made a statement and, with Pierre Boivin, answered questions.
At 4:45 p.m., the sitting was suspended.
At 4:48 p.m., the sitting resumed.
Michèle Fortin made a statement and, with Daniel Gourd, answered questions.
At 5:36 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
