The Standing Joint Committee on Official Languages met in a televised session at 3:36 p.m., this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Co-Chairs, The Hon. Shirley Maheu and Mauril Bélanger, presiding.
Members of the Committee present:
From the Senate: The Hon. Gérald A. Beaudoin, The Hon. Jean-Robert Gauthier, The Hon. Viola Léger and The Hon. Shirley Maheu.
From the House of Commons: Mauril Bélanger, Scott Reid, Benoît Sauvageau and Yolande Thibeault.
In attendance: From the Senate : Tonu Onu, Co-Clerk of the Committee. From the House of Commons: Jean-François Pagé, Co-Clerk of the Committee. From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Marion Ménard, Analyst.
Witnesses: From the Office of the Commissioner of Official Languages: Dyane Adam, Commissioner of Official Languages; Gérard Finn, Director General, Policy and Communications.
In accordance with Standing Order 108(4)b), the Committee resumed its study on Part VII of the Official Languages Act.
The witnesses made statements and answered questions.
At 5:30 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
