The Standing Joint Committee on Official Languages met at 3:45 p.m. this day, in Room 701, La Promenade Building, the Co-Chair (House of Commons), Raymonde Folco, presiding.
Members of the Committee present:
From the Senate: The Hon. Gérald A. Beaudoin.
From the House of Commons: Mauril Bélanger, Raymonde Folco, Yvon Godin, Grant Hill, Louis Plamondon.
Acting Member present: The Hon. Melvin Perry for the Hon. Joan Fraser.
In attendance: From the Senate: Luc Bégin, Co-Clerk of the Committee. From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Françoise Coulombe, Research Officer.
Witnesses: As an individual: The Hon. Jean-Maurice Simard, Senator. From PRAXIS Management Consultant: Pierre LeBlanc, President. From ACFO - Prescott-Russell: Jean Poirier, President.
In accordance with its mandate under Standing Order 108 (4) (b), the Committee resumed consideration of official language policies and programs.
The Honourable Jean-Maurice Simard and Pierre LeBlanc each made an opening statement and, with Jean Poirier answered questions.
At 5:33 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
