The Standing Joint Committee on Official Languages met at 3:33 o’clock p.m., this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Co-Chairs, Sheila Finestone and Rose-Marie Losier-Cool presiding.
Members of the Committee present:
Representing the Senate: Gérald A. Beaudoin, Gérald Comeau, Rose-Marie Losier-Cool, Louis J. Robichaud.
Representing the House of Commons: Cliff Breitkreuz, Denis Coderre, Rahim Jaffer, Ted McWhinney, Denis Paradis, Louis Plamondon.
Acting Members present: Marlene Jennings for Bob Kilger and Daniel Turp for Suzanne Tremblay.
Other Senator present: Sen. Jean-Maurice Simard
In attendance: Tonu Onu, Joint Clerk of the Committee. From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Françoise Coulombe, Research Officer.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(4)(b), the Committee proceeded to the consideration of official languages policies and programs.
