An Act to amend the Citizenship Act (children born abroad)

Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:
|
|
|
|

1. Subsection 3(1) of the Citizenship Act is amended by striking out “or” at the end of subparagraph (i)(iii), by adding “or” at the end of paragraph (j) and by adding the following after paragraph (j):
|

1. Le paragraphe 3(1) de la Loi sur la citoyenneté est modifié par adjonction, après l’alinéa j), de ce qui suit :

|
|
|
(k) the person was born or adopted outside Canada and one or both of the person’s parents were, at the time of the person’s birth or adoption, citizens employed outside Canada in or with the Canadian armed forces, the federal public administration or the public service of a province, otherwise than as a locally engaged person.
|
|
|
|
k) née ou adoptée à l’étranger et dont, au moment de la naissance ou de l’adoption, le ou les parents sont, sans avoir été engagés sur place, des citoyens au service, à l’étranger, des Forces armées canadiennes, de l’administration publique fédérale ou de celle d’une province.

2. Subsection 3(5) of the Act is repealed.
|
|
|
|
