The Standing Joint Committee on the Library of Parliament met at 12:01 p.m. this day, in Room 362, East Block, for the purpose of electing a Joint Chair (House of Commons), pursuant to Standing Order 106(1).

 

Members of the Committee present representing the Senate: The Honourable Senators Percy Downe, Jean Lapointe, Michael L. MacDonald, Judith Seidman and David Tkachuk.

 

Members of the Committee present representing the House of Commons: Gérard Asselin, Hon. Mauril Bélanger, Hon. Carolyn Bennett, Sylvie Boucher, Dona Cadman, Royal Galipeau and John Weston.

 

Acting Members from the House of Commons present: Raymonde Folco for Hon. Gurbax S. Malhi and Yvon Lévesque for Louis Plamondon.

 

Associate Members from the House of Commons present: Rob Clarke.

 

In attendance: Senate: Denis Robert, Committee Clerk. House of Commons: Andrew Bartholomew Chaplin, Procedural Clerk. Library of Parliament: François Côté, Analyst; Élise Hurtubise-Loranger, Analyst.

 
The Joint Clerk (House of Commons) presided over the election of a Joint Chair (House of Commons).
 

On motion of David Tkachuk, it was agreed, — That Royal Galipeau be elected Joint Chair of the Committee (House of Commons).

 

By unanimous consent, the Joint Clerk of the Committee (House of Commons) presided over the election of the Vice-Chair.

 

On motion of Gérard Asselin, it was agreed, — That the Hon. Mauril Bélanger be elected First Vice-Chair of the Committee.

 

Royal Galipeau took the Chair.

 
By unanimous consent, the Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

On motion of Gérard Asselin, it was agreed, — That the Committee do now adjourn.

 

At 12:05 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
