An Act to recognize the Maple Leaf Tartan as the national tartan of Canada

Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:

Short title

1. This Act may be cited as the Maple Leaf Tartan Act.

2. The Maple Leaf Tartan, as described in subsection 3(1), is hereby recognized and declared to be the national tartan of Canada.

3. (1) The Maple Leaf Tartan is the tartan registered under the name “Maple Leaf (District) Tartan” with the Scottish Tartans Authority (International Tartan Index number 2034).

3. (1) Le tartan de la feuille d’érable est le tartan enregistré sous l’appellation « Maple Leaf (District) Tartan » auprès de la Scottish Tartans Authority (International Tartan Index, no 2034).

Deposit of sample

(2) A sample of the national tartan of Canada shall be on deposit in the offices of the Minister of Canadian Heritage.

(2) Un échantillon du tartan national du Canada est déposé au cabinet du ministre du Patrimoine canadien.

Regulations

4. The Minister of Canadian Heritage may make regulations in relation to the national tartan of Canada.
