Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:

1. Section 37 of the Canadian Payments Act is amended by adding the following after subsection (5):
|
|
|
|

Designated payment systems
|
|
(6) The following payment systems are hereby designated:
|
|
|
|
(a) the payment system operated by the Interac Association; and
|
|
|
|
(b) the payment systems operated in Canada in connection with Visa and MasterCard debit cards.
|

|
(6) Les systèmes de paiement suivants sont désignés d’office :

|
|
|

Application of certain provisions
|
|
(7) For greater certainty, subsections (2), (3) and (5) do not apply to the designations under subsection (6).
|

|
|
(7) Il est entendu que les paragraphes (2), (3) et (5) ne s’appliquent pas aux désignations visées au paragraphe (6).
