Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:

1. The definition “arctic waters” in section 2 of the Arctic Waters Pollution Prevention Act is replaced by the following:

“arctic waters”
« eaux arctiques »
|
|
“arctic waters” means the internal waters of Canada and the waters of the territorial sea of Canada and the exclusive economic zone of Canada, within the area enclosed by the 60th parallel of north latitude, the 141st meridian of west longitude and the outer limit of the exclusive economic zone; however, where the international boundary between Canada and Greenland is less than 200 nautical miles from the baselines of the territorial sea of Canada, the international boundary shall be substituted for that outer limit;

« eaux arctiques » Eaux intérieures du Canada et eaux comprises dans la mer territoriale du Canada et la zone économique exclusive du Canada, à l’intérieur de la zone délimitée par le soixantième parallèle de latitude Nord, le cent quarante et unième méridien de longitude Ouest et la limite extérieure de la zone économique exclusive; toutefois, là où la frontière internationale entre le Canada et le Groenland est à moins de deux cents milles marins de la ligne de base de la mer territoriale du Canada, cette frontière internationale est substituée à cette limite extérieure.

Coming into force

2. This Act comes into force on a day to be fixed by order of the Governor in Council.
