SUMMARY
This enactment amends the State Immunity Act to prevent a foreign state from claiming immunity from the jurisdiction of Canadian courts in respect of proceedings that relate to terrorist conduct engaged in by the foreign state.
It also amends the Criminal Code to provide victims who suffer loss or damage as a result of conduct that is contrary to Part II.1 of the Criminal Code (Terrorism) with a civil remedy against the person who engaged in the terrorist–related conduct.

SOMMAIRE
Le texte modifie la Loi sur l’immunité des États afin d’empêcher un État étranger d’invoquer, devant les tribunaux canadiens, l’immunité de juridiction à l’égard des actions découlant de comportements terroristes adoptés par cet État.
Il modifie également le Code criminel de façon que les victimes ayant subi une perte ou des dommages par suite d’un comportement qui contrevient à la partie II.1 du Code criminel (Terrorisme) disposent d’un recours civil à l’encontre de la personne ayant adopté un comportement relié à des activités terroristes.
