The Standing Joint Committee on the Library of Parliament met at 9:11 a.m. this day, in Room 112-N Centre Block, for the purpose of electing a Joint Chair, pursuant to Standing Order 106(1).

 

Members of the Committee present representing the Senate: The Honourable Senators Michael J. Forrestall, Jean Lapointe and Yves Morin.

 

Members of the Committee present representing the House of Commons: Mauril Bélanger, Marlene Catterall, Marcel Gagnon, Deborah Grey, Jacques Saada and Guy St-Julien.

 

Acting Members from the House of Commons present: Gérard Binet for Jim Karygiannis, Bernard Patry for Andrew Telegdi and Karen Redman for Robert Bertrand.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: James Robertson, Principal.

 
The Joint Clerk (House of Commons) of the Committee presided over the election of a Joint Chair (House of Commons).
 

On motion of Mauril Bélanger, it was agreed, — That Carolyn Bennett be elected Joint Chair of the Committee in absentia (House of Commons).

 

The Joint Clerk (House of Commons) presided over the election of the Vice-Chair.

 

On motion of Guy St-Julien, it was agreed, — That Deborah Grey be elected as Opposition Vice-Chair of the Committee (House of Commons).

 

By unanimous consent, it was agreed, — That the Committee proceed to discuss its future business.

 

At 9:27 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
