Meeting No. 5

Thursday, May 15, 2003

The Standing Joint Committee on the Library of Parliament met at 9:06 a.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Joint Chairs, Carolyn Bennett and the Hon. Yves Morin, presiding.

Members of the Committee present representing the Senate: the Hon. Roch Bolduc, the Hon. Michael J. Forrestall and the Hon. Yves Morin.

Members of the Committee present representing the House of Commons: Carolyn Bennett, Marlene Catterall, Marcel Gagnon and Deborah Grey.

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament:  Lalita Acharya and James Robertson, Analysts.

Witnesses: From Compas: Stephen Kiar, Senior Partner; Philippe Azie, Senior Consultant.

Pursuant to the First Report of the Committee adopted by the Senate on April 3, 2003, and pursuant to House of Commons’ Standing Order 108(4)(a), a briefing session on the consultation done by the firm Compas with parliamentarians and their staff in order to measure their expectations and their needs about the Library.

Stephen Kiar made a statement and, with the other witness, answered questions.

At 10:44 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
