SUMMARY
This enactment amends the Statistics Act to establish a process to appoint the Chief Statistician of Canada. It also prescribes additional duties for the Chief Statistician and increases the independence of the Chief Statistician in carrying out his or her duties.
Further, it provides for a long-form questionnaire to be used for taking the census of population under that Act.

SOMMAIRE
Le texte modifie la Loi sur la statistique afin d’établir le processus de nomination du statisticien en chef du Canada. Il attribue également des fonctions supplémentaires au statisticien en chef et accroît l’indépendance de celui-ci dans l’exercice de ses fonctions.
En outre, il prévoit l’utilisation d’un questionnaire détaillé pour le recensement de la population fait aux termes de cette loi.
