SOMMAIRE
Le texte modifie la Loi sur le ministère des Travaux publics et des Services gouvernementaux afin de permettre au ministre d’autoriser l’utilisation du bois ou de toute autre chose qui offre des avantages pour l’environnement dans l’élaboration des exigences relatives aux ouvrages publics.
SUMMARY
This enactment amends the Department of Public Works and Government Services Act to permit the Minister, in developing requirements for public works, to allow the use of wood or any other thing that achieves environmental benefits.

1 L’article 7 de la Loi sur le ministère des Travaux publics et des Services gouvernementaux est modifié par adjonction, après le paragraphe (1), de ce qui suit :
1 Section 7 of the Department of Public Works and Government Services Act is amended by adding the following after subsection (1):

Use of wood
(1.1) Dans l’élaboration des exigences visant la construction, l’entretien et la réparation des ouvrages publics et des immeubles fédéraux et des biens réels fédéraux, le ministre tient compte de toute réduction potentielle des émissions de gaz à effet de serre et de tout autre avantage pour l’environnement et peut autoriser l’utilisation du bois ou de toute autre chose, notamment de matériel, de produits ou de ressources durables, qui offre pareil avantage.
End of inserted block(1.1) In developing requirements with respect to the construction, maintenance and repair of public works, federal real property and federal immovables, the Minister must consider any potential reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and any other environmental benefits and may allow the use of wood or any other thing — including a material, product or sustainable resource — that achieves such benefits.
