An Act to change the name of certain electoral districts

Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:

Short Title

Short title

1This Act may be cited as the Riding Name Change Act, 2018.

Electoral Districts in Nova Scotia, Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia

Nova Scotia

Name changed to “Cape Breton—North Nova”

2In the representation order declared in force by proclamation of October 1, 2013, under the Electoral Boundaries Readjustment Act, paragraph 1 of the part relating to Nova Scotia is amended by substituting the name “Cape Breton—North Nova” for the name “Cape Breton—Canso”.

Name changed to “South Nova”

3In the representation order declared in force by proclamation of October 1, 2013, under the Electoral Boundaries Readjustment Act, paragraph 9 of the part relating to Nova Scotia is amended by substituting the name “South Nova” for the name “South Shore—St. Margarets”.

Name changed to “Cape Breton by the Sea”

4In the representation order declared in force by proclamation of October 1, 2013, under the Electoral Boundaries Readjustment Act, paragraph 10 of the part relating to Nova Scotia is amended by substituting the name “Cape Breton by the Sea” for the name “Sydney—Victoria”.

Quebec

Name changed to “Lévis—Bellechasse—Etchemins”

5In the representation order declared in force by proclamation of October 1, 2013, under the Electoral Boundaries Readjustment Act, paragraph 10 of the part relating to Quebec is amended by substituting the name “Lévis—Bellechasse—Etchemins” for the name “Bellechasse—Les Etchemins—Lévis”.

Name changed to “Jonquière—Haut-Saguenay”

6In the representation order declared in force by proclamation of October 1, 2013, under the Electoral Boundaries Readjustment Act, paragraph 32 of the part relating to Quebec is amended by substituting the name “Jonquière–Haut-Saguenay” for the name “Jonquière”.

Name changed to “Côte-Nord”

7In the representation order declared in force by proclamation of October 1, 2013, under the Electoral Boundaries Readjustment Act, paragraph 46 of the part relating to Quebec is amended by substituting the name “Côte-Nord” for the name “Manicouagan”.

Name changed to “Saint-Hyacinthe—Acton”

8In the representation order declared in force by proclamation of October 1, 2013, under the Electoral Boundaries Readjustment Act, paragraph 66 of the part relating to Quebec is amended by substituting the name “Saint-Hyacinthe—Acton” for the name “Saint-Hyacinthe—Bagot”.

Ontario

Name changed to “Streetsville—Meadowvale—Lisgar”

9In the representation order declared in force by proclamation of October 1, 2013, under the Electoral Boundaries Readjustment Act, paragraph 63 of the part relating to Ontario is amended by substituting the name “Streetsville—Meadowvale—Lisgar” for the name “Mississauga—Streetsville”.

Name changed to “Greater Sudbury—Nickel Belt”

10In the representation order declared in force by proclamation of October 1, 2013, under the Electoral Boundaries Readjustment Act, paragraph 69 of the part relating to Ontario is amended by substituting the name “Greater Sudbury—Nickel Belt” for the name “Nickel Belt”.

Manitoba

Name changed to “Winnipeg West—Headingley”

11In the representation order declared in force by proclamation of October 1, 2013, under the Electoral Boundaries Readjustment Act, paragraph 2 of the part relating to Manitoba is amended by substituting the name “Winnipeg West—Headingley” for the name “Charleswood—St. James—Assiniboia—Headingley”.

Saskatchewan

Name changed to “Regina West”

12In the representation order declared in force by proclamation of October 1, 2013, under the Electoral Boundaries Readjustment Act, paragraph 7 of the part relating to Saskatchewan is amended by substituting the name “Regina West” for the name “Regina—Lewvan”.

Alberta

Name changed to “Calgary West”

13In the representation order declared in force by proclamation of October 1, 2013, under the Electoral Boundaries Readjustment Act, paragraph 12 of the part relating to Alberta is amended by substituting the name “Calgary West” for the name “Calgary Signal Hill”.

Name changed to “Fort McMurray—Lac La Biche—Cold Lake”

14In the representation order declared in force by proclamation of October 1, 2013, under the Electoral Boundaries Readjustment Act, paragraph 23 of the part relating to Alberta is amended by substituting the name “Fort McMurray—Lac La Biche—Cold Lake” for the name “Fort McMurray—Cold Lake”.

British Columbia

Name changed to “Burnaby—Douglas”

15In the representation order declared in force by proclamation of October 1, 2013, under the Electoral Boundaries Readjustment Act, paragraph 3 of the part relating to British Columbia is amended by substituting the name “Burnaby—Douglas” for the name “Burnaby South”.

Name changed to “Langley—West Abbotsford”

16In the representation order declared in force by proclamation of October 1, 2013, under the Electoral Boundaries Readjustment Act, paragraph 16 of the part relating to British Columbia is amended by substituting the name “Langley—West Abbotsford” for the name “Langley—Aldergrove”.

Name changed to “Abbotsford—Mission—Fraser Canyon”

17In the representation order declared in force by proclamation of October 1, 2013, under the Electoral Boundaries Readjustment Act, paragraph 17 of the part relating to British Columbia is amended by substituting the name “Abbotsford—Mission—Fraser Canyon” for the name “Mission—Matsqui—Fraser Canyon”.

Coming into Force

Dissolution of 42nd Parliament

18This Act comes into force on the dissolution of the 42nd Parliament.
