SUMMARY

This enactment amends the Employment Insurance Act to extend the maximum period for which benefits for illness, injury or quarantine may be paid from 15 weeks to 50 weeks.

Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:

1Paragraph 12(3)‍(c) of the Employment Insurance Act is replaced by the following:

  • (c)because of a prescribed illness, injury or quarantine is Insertion start 50 Insertion end ;

2Paragraph 152.‍14(1)‍(c) of the Act is replaced by the following:

  • (c)because of a prescribed illness, injury or quarantine is Insertion start 50 Insertion end ;
