SUMMARY
This enactment amends paragraph 718.2(a) of the Criminal Code to specify that the physical, emotional, sexual or financial abuse of a person over the age of 65 or of a person 18 years of age or older who depends on others for their care because of a mental or physical disability is to be considered an aggravating circumstance for sentencing purposes.

An Act to amend the Criminal Code (abuse of vulnerable persons)
R.S., c. C-46
Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:
1. Paragraph 718.2(a) of the Criminal Code is amended by adding the following after subparagraph (iii.1):
(iii.2) evidence that the offender, in committing the offence, caused a person aged 65 years or older, or a person 18 years of age or older who depends on others for their care because of a mental or physical disability, to be exploited for financial gain or to be physically, emotionally or sexually abused,
