Minutes of Proceedings
The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.
At 8:13 p.m., the sitting was suspended.
At 8:16 p.m., the sitting resumed.
At 9:20 p.m., the sitting was suspended.
At 9:25 p.m., the sitting resumed.
It was agreed, — That the draft report, as amended, be adopted.
It was agreed, — That the report be entitled: "Medical Assistance in Dying: A Patient-Centred Approach".
ORDERED, — That the Joint Chairs table and/or present the report to their respective chambers.
It was agreed, — That the Joint Chairs, Joint Clerks and analysts be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.
It was agreed, — That the Committee append to its report a dissenting opinion from Mr. Cooper, M.P., Mr. Warawa, M.P. and Mr. Deltell M.P., immediately after the signatures of the Joint Chairs, provided that it is no more than ten pages in length in Arial 12 point font, single space and be submitted electronically, in both official languages, to the Joint Clerks of the Committee, no later than 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 23, 2016.
It was agreed, — That the Committee append to its report a supplementary opinion from Mr. Rankin, M.P., and Ms. Sansoucy M.P., immediately after the signatures of the Joint Chairs, provided that it is no more than five pages in length in Arial 12 point font, single space and be submitted electronically, in both official languages, to the Joint Clerks of the Committee, no later than 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 23, 2016.
It was agreed, — That the analysts and the Joint Clerks, in consultation with the Joint Chairs, may prepare a news release for publication on the Committee’s website and for distribution upon presentation and/or tabling of the report to the Senate and the House.
It was agreed, — That the Joint Clerks of the Committee may make the necessary arrangements for a press conference to be held at a later date and time after the presentation and/or tabling of the Committee's report to the Senate and House; and that the Committee be represented by the Joint Chairs, a representative from each party and a representative of the Senate Liberal caucus.
At 10:18 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
