The Standing Joint Committee on the Library of Parliament met in camera at 12:03 p.m. this day, in Room 228, La Promenade Building, the Joint Chair, the Hon. Marie-P. Charette-Poulin, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present representing the Senate: The Honourable Senators Hon. Marie-P. Charette-Poulin, Hon. Nicole Eaton and Hon. Michel Rivard.

 

Members of the Committee present representing the House of Commons: Patrick Brown, Rod Bruinooge, Royal Galipeau, Carol Hughes, José Nunez-Melo, Claude Patry, François Pilon, Blake Richards, Brad Trost and Jeff Watson.

 

Acting Members from the House of Commons present: Scott Andrews for Hon. Carolyn Bennett, Kelly Block for Brad Trost, Devinder Shory for Jeff Watson, Merv Tweed for Rob Clarke and Wai Young for Rob Clarke.

 

Associate Members from the House of Commons present: Blaine Calkins.

 

In attendance: Senate: Kevin Pittman, Joint Clerk of the Committee.

 

Witnesses: Library of Parliament: Lise F. Chartrand, Director, Finance and Material Management Division; Sonia L'Heureux, Associate Parliamentary Librarian.

 

It was agreed, — That member’s staff not be present at today’s in camera meeting.

 
Pursuant to the Order of Reference from the Senate on Friday, October 26, 2011 and to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee commenced its study of the Library of Parliament's Strategic and Operating Review.
 

Sonia L'Heureux made a statement and, with Lise F. Chartrand, answered questions.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee recommend to the Speaker of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Commons the Strategic and Operating Review proposal presented today by the Associate Parliamentary Librarian for the Library of Parliament for the fiscal years 2012-2015 on May 10th, 2012.

 

At 1:22 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
