SUMMARY
This enactment amends the Canada Labour Code to prohibit the employment of persons under the age of 15 years, unless the employment is part of their education or training.

Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:

1. The heading “Minimum Wages” before section 178 of the Canada Labour Code is replaced by the following:
1. L'intertitre « Salaire minimum » précédant l'article 178 du Code canadien du travail est remplacé par ce qui suit :
Minimum Wages and Minimum Age of Employment
Salaire minimum et âge minimum d’embauche
2. Section 179 of the Act is renumbered as subsection 179(1) and is amended by adding the following:
2. L’article 179 de la même loi devient le paragraphe 179(1) et est modifié par adjonction de ce qui suit :
Minimum age of employment
(2) An employer may employ a person under the age of 15 years only if the employment is part of the person’s education or training in a program that has been approved by the Minister.
(2) L’employeur ne peut engager une personne de moins de quinze ans que si l’emploi fait partie des études ou de la formation de celle-ci dans le cadre d’un programme approuvé par le ministre.
