SUMMARY
This enactment amends the Citizenship Act by repealing the provisions
(a) concerning certain conditions for the acquisition of citizenship by persons who are the second or subsequent generation born abroad to Canadian citizens after February 14, 1977;
(b) limiting citizenship by descent to one generation born abroad;
(c) concerning the relief available to stateless descendants of Canadian citizens.
SOMMAIRE
Le texte, qui modifie la Loi sur la citoyenneté, abroge les dispositions :
a) concernant certaines conditions d’acquisition de la citoyenneté applicables aux personnes de deuxième génération et des générations suivantes nées à l’étranger de citoyens canadiens après le 14 février 1977;
b) limitant l’acquisition de la citoyenneté par filiation aux enfants de la première génération nés à l’étranger;
c) concernant le redressement offert aux descendants apatrides de citoyens canadiens.

Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:
Sa Majesté, sur l'avis et avec le consentement du Sénat et de la Chambre des communes du Canada, édicte :

1. (1) Subparagraph 3(1)(f)(iii) of the Cit- izenship Act is repealed.
1. (1) Le sous-alinéa 3(1)f)(iii) de la Loi sur la citoyenneté est abrogé.
(2) Subsections 3(3) to (5) of the Act are repealed.
(2) Les paragraphes 3(3) à (5) de la même loi sont abrogés.
2. Subsections 5(5) and (6) of the Act are repealed.

3. The Act is amended by replacing the words “reasons referred to in subparagraphs (1)(f)(i) to (iii)” with the words “reasons referred to in subparagraphs (1)(f)(i) and (ii)” in the following provisions:
(a) paragraph 3(1)(i); and
(b) paragraph 3(7)(a).
3. Dans la même loi, notamment dans les passages ci-après, « motifs visés aux sous-alinéas (1)f)(i) à (iii) » est remplacé par « motifs visés aux sous-alinéas (1)f)(i) et (ii) » :
a) l'alinéa 3(1)i);
b) l'alinéa 3(7)a).
