SUMMARY
This enactment amends the Food and Drugs Act to ban the sale and the importation of food obtained from a cloned animal.

An Act to amend the Food and Drugs Act (food obtained from cloned animals)
R.S., c. F-27
Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:
1. The Food and Drugs Act is amended by adding the following after section 4:
Food obtained from a cloned animal
4.1 (1) No person shall sell any food obtained from a cloned animal.
Importation and interprovincial movement
(2) No person shall import into Canada, send, convey or receive for conveyance from one province to another, or have in possession for the purpose of sending or conveying from one province to another, any food obtained from a cloned animal.
Definition of “food obtained from a cloned animal”
(3) In this section “food obtained from a cloned animal” means food obtained from livestock developed using somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT) and the progeny of such livestock.
