1. Paragraph (a) of the definition
``qualifying student'' in subsection 2(1) of
the Canada Student Financial Assistance
Act is replaced by the following:

2. If Bill C-31, introduced in the 2nd
session of the 36th Parliament and entitled
An Act respecting immigration to Canada
and the granting of refugee protection to
persons who are displaced, persecuted or in
danger (referred to in this section as the
``other Act''), receives royal assent, then on
the later of the day on which the other Act
or section 1 of this Act comes into force,
paragraph (a) of the definition ``qualifying
student'' in subsection 2(1) of the Canada
Student Financial Assistance Act, as enacted
by section 1 of this Act, is replaced by the
following:
