SUMMARY

This enactment expands the definition of ``qualifying student'' in the Canada Student Financial Assistance Act to include a Convention refugee. Under this enactment, a Convention refugee is a person who has been determined to be a Convention refugee by the Immigration and Refugee Board under the Immigration Act. This enactment would permit such refugees to obtain financial assistance under the Canada Student Financial Assistance Act and thereby acquire post-secondary education and training.
