	An Act to amend the Motor Vehicle Safety Act (ignition security switches)
1993, c. 16	Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:
	*1. Subsection 5(1) of the Motor Vehicle Safety Act* is amended by adding the following after paragraph (a):**
	(a.1) the vehicle is equipped with a device that
	(i) prevents the engine from being started unless an ignition key has been inserted in the ignition switch, and
	(ii) conforms to the prescribed stan dards;
	2. Paragraph 5(1)(b) of the Act is replaced by the following:
	(b) evidence of conformity with the standards referred to in paragraphs (a) and (a.1) has been obtained and produced in the prescribed form and manner or, where the regulations so provide, in a form and manner satisfactory to the Minister;
	3. This Act comes into force two years after the day upon which it receives royal assent.
