SUMMARY

The purpose of this enactment is to add to the standards necessary for allowing the use of the national safety mark for vehicles sold in Canada.

Commencing two years after the enactment receives royal assent, for a vehicle to qualify, it will also have to be fitted with a device that prevents it being started without an ignition key.

This will reduce vehicle theft as it will prevent engines being ``hot-wired''.
