Summary
This enactment incorporates the Canadian Anti-Smoking Youth Foundation, a non-profit corporation established for the tobacco industry, whose mandate is to reduce the use of tobacco products by young persons in Canada. A levy would be imposed on tobacco manufacturers in order to provide the Foundation with the necessary funds to carry out its objects and activities.
The enactment is complementary to the Tobacco Act and addresses the public health problem of the use of tobacco products by young persons across Canada.
