An Act to amend the Canadian Security
Intelligence Service Act (Review
Committee)

1. Subsections 34(1) to (3) of the Canadian
Security Intelligence Service Act are
replaced by the following:
|

Security
Intelligence
Review
Committee
|
34. (1) There is hereby established a
committee, to be known as the Security
Intelligence Review Committee, consisting of
a Chairman and not less than two and not more
than four other members, all of whom shall be
appointed by the Governor in Council, after
each federal general election, within the first
four months that the House of Commons is
sitting, from among members of the Queen's
Privy Council for Canada who are not
members of the Senate or the House of
Commons

Term of office
|
(2) Each member of the Review Committee
shall be appointed to hold office during good
behaviour until the member has been replaced
pursuant to an appointment made under
subsection (1).
|
|
Absence or
incapacity
|
(3) In the event of the absence or incapacity
of a member of the Review Committee, other
than the Chairman, or if a seat is vacant, the
Governor in Council may appoint a new
member of the Review Committee from
among members of the Queen's Privy Council
for Canada who are not members of the Senate
or the House of Commons
|

Transitional
|
2. A person who is a member of the
Review Committee on the day this Act
comes into force shall continue to sit on the
Review Committee until the member has
been replaced under subsection 34(1).
