SUMMARY
This enactment amends the Citizenship Act to provide that provisions of the Act relating to the oath of citizenship operate notwithstanding sections 2 and 15 of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:

1. The Citizenship Act is amended by adding the following after section 2:

Provisions relating to oath of citizenship
2.1 The provisions of this Act relating to the taking of the oath of citizenship and the form of that oath operate notwithstanding the provisions of sections 2 and 15 of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
2.1 Les dispositions de la présente loi concernant la prestation du serment de citoyenneté et son libellé s’appliquent malgré les articles 2 et 15 de la Charte canadienne des droits et libertés.
