An Act to amend the Criminal Code (murder of an intimate partner, one’s own child or an intimate partner’s child) |
His Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:
R.S., c. C-46
Criminal Code
1 Section 231 of the Criminal Code is amended by adding the following after subsection (4):
Murder — intimate partner or child
Start of inserted block(4.1) Irrespective of whether a murder is planned and deliberate on the part of a person, murder is first degree murder when the victim is the person’s intimate partner, the person’s own child or the child of the person’s intimate partner.
