SOMMAIRE
Le texte modifie la Loi sur la santé des animaux pour ériger en infraction le fait de pénétrer, sans autorisation ou excuse légitime, dans un lieu où se trouvent des animaux, lorsque ce fait risquerait vraisemblablement d’exposer les animaux à une maladie ou à une substance toxique susceptible de les contaminer.
SUMMARY
This enactment amends the Health of Animals Act to make it an offence to enter, without lawful authority or excuse, a place in which animals are kept if doing so could reasonably be expected to result in the exposure of the animals to a disease or toxic substance that is capable of affecting or contaminating them.

1 La Loi sur la santé des animaux est modifiée par adjonction, après l’article 9, de ce qui suit :

(1.1) Tout individu qui contrevient à l’article 9.1 commet une infraction et encourt, sur déclaration de culpabilité :
a) par procédure sommaire, une amende maximale de Insertion start vingt-cinq Insertion end mille dollars et un emprisonnement maximal de Insertion start trois Insertion end mois, ou l’une de ces peines;
b) par mise en accusation, une amende maximale de cent mille dollars et un emprisonnement maximal Insertion start d’un an Insertion end , ou l’une de ces peines.
(1.1) Every individual who contravenes section 9.1 is guilty of
(a) an offence punishable on summary conviction and liable to a fine not exceeding Insertion start twenty-five Insertion end thousand dollars or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding Insertion start three Insertion end months, or to both; or
(b) an indictable offence and liable to a fine not exceeding Insertion start one Insertion end hundred thousand dollars or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding Insertion start one year Insertion end , or to both.

(1.2) Toute personne autre qu’un individu qui contrevient à l’article 9.1 commet une infraction et encourt, sur déclaration de culpabilité :
a) par procédure sommaire, une amende maximale de cent mille dollars;
b) par mise en accusation, une amende maximale de cinq cent mille dollars.
(1.2) Every person, other than an individual, that contravenes section 9.1 is guilty of
(a) an offence punishable on summary conviction and liable to a fine not exceeding one hundred thousand dollars; or
(b) an indictable offence and liable to a fine not exceeding five hundred thousand dollars.
