SOMMAIRE
Le texte modifie la Loi de 2001 sur la marine marchande du Canada afin d’interdire aux bâtiments, dans les ports ou installations maritimes au Canada, de charger du charbon thermique en vue de son transport à l’extérieur du Canada.
SUMMARY
This enactment amends the Canada Shipping Act, 2001 to prohibit vessels from loading, at a port or marine installation in Canada, any thermal coal that is to be transported outside Canada.

1 La Loi de 2001 sur la marine marchande du Canada est modifiée par adjonction, après l’article 189, de ce qui suit :
1 The Canada Shipping Act, 2001 is amended by adding the following after section 189:

189.1 (1) Les définitions qui suivent s’appliquent au présent article :
charbon thermique Charbon utilisé pour produire de l’électricité. (thermal coal)
installation maritime Installation utilisée ou pouvant être utilisée pour effectuer des opérations de chargement ou de déchargement de charbon thermique sur un bâtiment ou à partir de celui-ci et qui est située sur terre ou qui y est reliée. (marine installation)
End of inserted block189.1 (1) The following definitions apply in this section.
marine installation means an installation that is used or is capable of being used in the loading or unloading of thermal coal to or from vessels and that is on, or is connected to, land. (installation maritime)
thermal coal means coal that is used to generate electricity. (charbon thermique)

(2) Il est interdit au bâtiment qui se trouve dans un port ou une installation maritime au Canada de charger dans sa cale du charbon thermique en vue de son transport à l’extérieur du Canada.
End of inserted block(2) It is prohibited for a vessel to load into its hold, at a port or marine installation in Canada, any thermal coal that is to be transported outside Canada.

2 Subsection 191(1) of the Act is amended by striking out “and” at the end of paragraph (c) and by adding the following after that paragraph:
