SOMMAIRE
Le texte modifie la Loi sur l’Agence Parcs Canada afin de prévoir l’obligation pour l’Agence de mettre à jour, tous les quatre ans, la liste indicative du Canada pour la protection du patrimoine mondial.
SUMMARY
This enactment amends the Parks Canada Agency Act in order to require the Agency to update Canada’s tentative list for world heritage protection every four years.

Convention means the Convention concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage, adopted by the General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization on November 16, 1972. (Convention)
tentative list means the list prepared in accordance with Article 11 of the Convention. (liste indicative)

(2) Le ministre, en collaboration avec le ministre du Patrimoine canadien, constitue un comité consultatif chargé d’examiner les propositions d’inscriptions à la liste indicative et de recommander à l’Agence les sites qui, à son avis, devraient être ajoutés à celle-ci.
End of inserted block(2) The Minister, in cooperation with the Minister of Canadian Heritage, shall establish an advisory committee to review proposals for inclusion on the tentative list and to recommend to the Agency the sites that, in its opinion, should be included on the list.

(3) Le comité consultatif est composé de sept membres ayant une grande connaissance des domaines de la conservation et de la commémoration du patrimoine naturel et culturel au Canada.
End of inserted block(3) The advisory committee shall consist of seven members who have extensive knowledge of natural and cultural heritage conservation and commemoration in Canada.

Protection of world heritage
(4) L’Agence, à titre de représentant du Canada en tant qu’État partie à la Convention, met à jour la liste indicative du Canada tous les quatre ans, sous réserve de l’approbation du ministre et du ministre du Patrimoine canadien.
End of inserted block(4) The Agency, as representative of Canada as a State Party to the Convention, shall update Canada’s tentative list every four years, subject to the approval of the Minister and the Minister of Canadian Heritage.

Number of sites
(5) La liste doit inclure, compte tenu de l’équilibre voulu entre les sites naturels et culturels, au moins quinze sites qui sont considérés comme des biens naturels ou culturels d’importance et qui satisfont aux critères de sélection prévus par la Convention.
End of inserted block(5) The list shall include at least 15 sites that reflect the desired balance between natural and cultural sites, are considered to be significant natural or cultural properties and satisfy the selection criteria provided for in the Convention.
