Préambule
Attendu :
que le Parlement du Canada reconnaît que la communauté hispano-canadienne représente un important groupe social — en 2011, quelque 900 000 personnes vivant au Canada se sont dites d’origine latino-américaine ou espagnole et ont déclaré que leur langue maternelle était l’espagnol;
que, en 2002, 82 % des personnes ayant dit posséder des origines latino-américaines affirmaient ressentir un puissant sentiment d’appartenance au Canada, sentiment que 57 % de ces personnes entretenaient également à l’égard de leur groupe ethnique et social hispanique;
qu’il est important pour l’avenir économique du Canada d’encourager le développement social et culturel à l’intérieur et à l’extérieur d’une communauté hispano-canadienne vibrante et diversifiée sur le plan culturel;
qu’instituer à l’échelle nationale des occasions pour les membres de la communauté hispano-canadienne de faire partager avec les Canadiens et de promouvoir leur culture et leurs traditions uniques contribuerait à renforcer l’unité sociale,
Preamble
Whereas the Parliament of Canada recognizes that the Hispanic population of Canada represents an important social group, with almost 900,000 people declaring Spanish as their native language in 2011 and reporting Latin-American and Spanish origins;
Whereas, in 2002, 82% of those who reported a Latin-American heritage felt a strong sense of belonging to Canada, and 57% had the same feeling towards their Hispanic ethnic and social group;
Whereas encouraging social and cultural development within and outside of a vibrant and culturally diverse Hispanic Canadian community is important for the future of the Canadian economy;
And whereas providing national opportunities for Hispanic populations in Canada to share and promote their unique culture and traditions with Canadians would encourage social unity;

Now, therefore, Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:
