SUMMARY
This enactment designates the week commencing on the fourth Saturday of September in each and every year as “Addiction Recovery Week”.

Preamble
Whereas drug and alcohol addiction is a health issue that impacts millions of Canadians;
Whereas recovery from addiction free of stigma and discrimination, while being an ongoing journey, is real, available, attainable and sustainable;
Whereas individuals, families, workplaces and communities should be celebrated for their perseverance and commitment to that recovery and to recovery-focused services;
And whereas further support and collaboration are needed to ensure that recovery from drug and alcohol addiction, which is often part of a multidimensional personal journey towards well-being, is made available to all who are affected;
Now, therefore, Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:
SHORT TITLE
Short title
1. This Act may be cited as the Addiction Recovery Week Act.

Addiction Recovery Week
2. Throughout Canada, in each and every year, the week commencing on the fourth Saturday of September is to be known as “Addiction Recovery Week”.
