SUMMARY
This enactment amends the Meat Inspection Act and the Safe Food for Canadians Act to prohibit the sending or conveying from one province to another — or the importing or exporting — of horses or other equines for slaughter for human consumption or the production of meat products for human consumption. It also provides for an exception to that prohibition.

Le texte modifie la Loi sur l’inspection des viandes et la Loi sur la salubrité des aliments au Canada afin d’interdire l’expédition ou le transport d’une province à une autre — de même que l'importation ou l'exportation — de chevaux ou d'autres équidés en vue de leur abattage à des fins de consommation humaine ou de production de produits de viande destinée à une telle consommation. Il prévoit également une exception à cette interdiction.
