An Act respecting the acquisition of Stelco Inc. by the United States Steel Corporation

Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:

Sa Majesté, sur l’avis et avec le consentement du Sénat et de la Chambre des communes du Canada, édicte :

Short title

1. This Act may be cited as the Stelco Inc. Acquisition Act.

Publication of undertakings and demands

2. Despite any other Act of Parliament, the Government of Canada must, within 60 days after this Act comes into force, publish in the Canada Gazette

(a) all written undertakings given to Her Majesty in right of Canada under the Investment Canada Act in respect of the acquisition of Stelco Inc. by the United States Steel Corporation in 2007; and

(b) all demands sent by the Minister of Industry under section 39 of the Investment Canada Act in respect of those undertakings.

2. Malgré toute autre loi fédérale, le gouvernement du Canada publie dans la Gazette du Canada, dans les soixante jours suivant l’entrée en vigueur de la présente loi :

Publication des engagements et des mises en demeure

a) les engagements écrits pris envers Sa Majesté du chef du Canada sous le régime de la Loi sur Investissement Canada à l’égard de l’acquisition de Stelco Inc. par la United States Steel Corporation en 2007;

b) les mises en demeure délivrées par le ministre de l’Industrie aux termes de l’article 39 de la Loi sur Investissement Canada à l’égard de ces engagements.
