SUMMARY
This enactment amends the Criminal Code to clarify that suicide bombings fall within the definition “terrorist activity”.

An Act to amend the Criminal Code (suicide bombings)

Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:
Sa Majesté, sur l’avis et avec le consentement du Sénat et de la Chambre des communes du Canada, édicte :

1. Section 83.01 of the Criminal Code is amended by adding the following after subsection (1.1):
1. L’article 83.01 du Code criminel est modifié par adjonction, après le paragraphe (1.1), de ce qui suit :
For greater certainty
(1.2) For greater certainty, a suicide bombing is an act that comes within paragraph (a) or (b) of the definition “terrorist activity” in subsection (1) if it satisfies the criteria of that paragraph.
(1.2) Il est entendu que l’attentat suicide à la bombe est un acte visé aux alinéas a) ou b) de la définition de « activité terroriste » au paragraphe (1) s’il répond aux critères prévus à l’alinéa en cause.

Coming into force
2. This Act comes into force on the day to be fixed by order of the Governor in Council.
2. La présente loi entre en vigueur à la date fixée par décret.
