An Act to amend the Broadcasting Act (loudness of television advertisements)
Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:

BROADCASTING ACT
1. The Broadcasting Act is amended by adding the following after section 10:
Regulations respecting loudness of advertisements
10.1 The Commission shall make regulations limiting the loudness of television advertisements in accordance with the practices set out by the Advanced Television Systems Committee in the document entitled ATSC Rec­ommended Practice: Techniques for Estab- lishing and Maintaining Audio Loudness for Digital Television or other practices approved by the Commission.

Making of regulations
2. The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission shall, within one year after this Act comes into force, make the regulations referred to in section 10.1 of the Broadcasting Act as enacted by section 1.
