SUMMARY
This enactment amends the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999 to prohibit the mining and export of asbestos.

Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:
1. The Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999 is amended by adding the following after section 94:
Extraction of asbestos
94.1 No person may conduct an operation for the extraction of asbestos from the earth for commercial purposes.
2. Part 1 of Schedule 3 to the Act is amended by adding the following after item 11:
