SUMMARY
This enactment amends the Electoral Boundaries Readjustment Act to ensure that the number of electoral districts in Northern Ontario is not less than 9% of the total number of electoral districts in the Province of Ontario.

Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:
Sa Majesté, sur l'avis et avec le consentement du Sénat et de la Chambre des communes du Canada, édicte :

1. Section 15 of the Electoral Boundaries Readjustment Act is amended by adding the following after subsection (2):
1. L’article 15 de la Loi sur la révision des limites des circonscriptions électorales est modifié par adjonction, après le paragraphe (2), de ce qui suit :
Exception — Northern Ontario
(3) The commission established for the Province of Ontario shall depart from the application of the rule set out in paragraph (1)(a) to ensure that, in any case, the number of electoral districts in Northern Ontario is not less than 9% of the total number of electoral districts in the Province of Ontario, rounded off to the nearest whole number.
(3) La commission constituée pour la province d'Ontario déroge au principe énoncé à l'alinéa (1)a) afin de veiller à ce que le Nord de l’Ontario compte en tout temps un nombre minimal de circonscriptions électorales correspondant à 9 % du nombre total des circonscriptions électorales de la province d'Ontario, arrondi à l’unité supérieure.
Exception — Nord de l’Ontario
Definition of “Northern Ontario”
(4) For the purpose of this section, “Northern Ontario” means the geographic area comprising the following ten electoral districts, as described in the representation order declared in force by proclamation of August 25, 2003 under this Act:

(a) Algoma — Manitoulin — Kapuskasing;

(b) Kenora;

(c) Nickel Belt;

(d) Nipissing — Timiskaming;

(e) Parry Sound — Muskoka;

(f) Sault Ste. Marie;

(g) Sudbury;

(h) Thunder Bay — Rainy River;

(i) Thunder Bay — Superior North; and

(j) Timmins — James Bay.
(4) Pour l’application du présent article, « Nord de l’Ontario » s’entend de la région géographique constituée des dix circonscriptions électorales ci-après, telles qu’elles sont définies par le décret de représentation électorale déclaré en vigueur par la proclamation prise le 25 août 2003 en vertu de la présente loi :
