Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:

1. Section 3 of the Citizenship Act is amended by adding the following after subsection (5):
|

Exception — certain organizations
|
|
(5.1) Subsection (3) does not apply to a person if one or both of the person’s parents, as provided for in that subsection, were, at the time of the person’s birth or adoption, employed outside Canada by the United Nations or its bodies, the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the World Trade Organization or a civil society organization within the meaning of section 3 of the Official Development Assistance Accountability Act.

(5.1) Le paragraphe (3) ne s’applique pas si, au moment de la naissance ou de l’adoption, le ou les parents visés sont employés à l’étranger par les Nations Unies ou leurs organes, par la Banque mondiale, par le Fonds monétaire international, par l'Organisation mondiale de commerce ou par un organisme de la société civile au sens de l’article 3 de la Loi sur la responsabilité en matière d’aide au développement officielle.
