The Standing Joint Committee on the Library of Parliament met at 12:02 p.m. this day, in Room 362, East Block, the Joint Chair, Peter Goldring, presiding.

Members of the Committee present representing the Senate: The Honourable Senators Stephen Greene, Mobina S.B. Jaffer and Terrance Richard Stratton.

Members of the Committee present representing the House of Commons: Gérard Asselin, Hon. Mauril Bélanger, Ray Boughen, Cheryl Gallant, Peter Goldring, Hon. Gurbax S. Malhi, Louis Plamondon, Blake Richards and Brad Trost.

Acting Members from the House of Commons present: David Christopherson for Carol Hughes and Raymonde Folco for Hon. Carolyn Bennett.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Élise Hurtubise-Loranger, Analyst ; François Côté, Analyst ; Sebastian Spano, Analyst.

Witnesses: Library of Parliament: William R. Young, Parliamentary Librarian; Lise F. Chartrand, Director, Finance and Material Management Division.

Pursuant to Standing Order 81(5), the Committee commenced consideration of the Supplementary Estimates (B) 2009-2010: Vote 10b under PARLIAMENT, referred to the Committee on Thursday, November 12, 2009.

William R. Young made a statement and, with the other witness, answered questions.

The Joint Chair called Votes 10b under PARLIAMENT.

Vote 10b under PARLIAMENT carried.

ORDERED, — That the Joint Chairs report Vote 10b under PARLIAMENT to the Houses.

It was agreed, — That the Committee meet in camera on Thursday, November 26, 2009, for a preparatory meeting on the Library of Parliament’s Main Estimates 2010-2011, and that the choice of witnesses for that meeting be left to the Joint Chairs.

At 12:47 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
