An Act respecting a Seniors' Day
Whereas the Parliament of Canada wishes to recognize the contributions of seniors to Canadian society and to express Canada’s appreciation for that contribution;
Now, therefore, Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:
SHORT TITLE
Short title
1. This Act may be cited as the Seniors’ Day Act.
SENIORS’ DAY
Seniors’ Day
2. Throughout Canada, in each and every year, the first Sunday of February shall be known as “Seniors’ Day” in recognition of the contributions made by seniors to Canadian society.
Not a legal holiday
3. For greater certainty, Seniors’ Day is not a legal holiday or a non-juridical day.
