An Act to bring the Food and Drug Regulations in line with the Guidelines for Canadian Drinking Water Quality
Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:
Short title
1. This Act may be cited as the Drinking Water Quality Act.
Definitions
2. The following definitions apply in this Act.
Guidelines for Canadian Drinking Water Quality
« Recomman- dations pour la qualité de l’eau potable au Ca- nada »
Guidelines for Canadian Drinking Water Quality” means the guidelines published by Health Canada on behalf of the Federal-Provincial-Territorial Committee on Drinking Water (CDW).
“Minister”
« ministre »
“Minister” means the Minister of Health.
Food and Drug Regulations
3. Despite anything in the Food and Drugs Act or the regulations made under that Act, the Minister shall, within nine months after the day on which this Act comes into force, amend Division 12 of the Food and Drug Regulations to bring it in line with the standards established in the Guidelines for Canadian Drinking Water Quality.
