This enactment ensures that the minimum wage in Canada is not less than ten dollars per hour.

An Act to amend the Canada Labour Code (minimum wage)
R.S., c. L-2
Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:
1. Subsection 178(1) of the Canada Labour Code is replaced by the following:
Minimum wage
178. (1) Except as otherwise provided by or under this Division, an employer shall pay to each employee a wage at a rate that is not less than the greater of
(a) the minimum hourly rate fixed, from time to time, by or under an Act of the legislature of the province where the employee is usually employed and that is generally applicable regardless of occupation, status or work experience; and
(b) ten dollars per hour.
Where wage rate not hourly
(1.1) Where the wages of an employee are paid on any basis of time other than hourly, the employer shall pay to the employee a wage at a rate that is not less than the equivalent of the applicable rate under subsection (1) for the time worked by the employee.
