SUMMARY
This enactment amends the Employment Insurance Act to provide that claimants may not be charged interest or any other penalty for the late payment of benefit repayments or of penalties assessed for violations of the Act.

1996, c. 23
Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:
1. Subsection 96(13) of the Employment Insurance Act is repealed.
2. The Act is amended by adding the following after section 150:
Interests
150.1 For greater certainty, no interest or penalty is payable in respect of the late payment of
(a) a benefit repayment; or
(b) a penalty assessed on a claimant for a violation of this Act.
