SUMMARY
This enactment amends the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act to provide that the decision to issue a temporary residence permit to a victim of trafficking in persons does not depend on the victim’s participation in an investigation or legal proceedings in respect of that offence.

Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and the House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:
1. Section 24 of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act is amended by adding the following after subsection (3):
Victim — trafficking in persons
(4) For the purposes of subsection (1) and despite subsection (3), where a foreign national claims to be the victim of an offence under section 118 of this Act or section 279.01 of the Criminal Code, the officer shall not take into account the foreign national's possible participation in any investigation or proceedings in respect of the offence.
