SUMMARY This enactment amends the Canada Labour Code to extend from twelve weeks to fifty-two weeks the period during which an employee may be absent from work due to illness or injury without being dismissed, suspended, laid off, demoted or disciplined by an employer.		SOMMAIRE Le texte modifie le Code canadien du travail afin de porter de douze semaines à cinquante-deux semaines la période durant laquelle un employé peut s’absenter du travail en raison de maladie ou d’accident sans être congédié, suspendu, mis à pied, rétrogradé ou soumis à des mesures disciplinaires par l’employeur.

Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:

Sa Majesté, sur l’avis et avec le consentement du Sénat et de la Chambre des communes du Canada, édicte :

1. Paragraph 239(1)(b) of the Canada Labour Code is replaced by the following:

1. L’alinéa 239(1)b) du Code canadien du travail est remplacé par ce qui suit :

(b) the period of absence does not exceed fifty-two weeks; and

b) il n'est pas absent pendant plus de cinquante-deux semaines;
