An Act to amend the Employment Insurance Act (no interest payable by claimants on benefit repayments or penalties)
1996, c. 23
Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:
1. Subsection 96(13) of the Employment Insurance Act is repealed.
2. The Act is amended by adding the following after section 150:
Interests
150.1 For greater certainty, no interest or penalty is payable in respect of the late payment of
(a) a benefit repayment; or
(b) a penalty assessed on a claimant for a violation of this Act.
